QUARTER TO EIGHT
The Story of General Motty Hod

Fate Did Not Let Me GoWho is Motty Hod? He was the pilot who brought the first airplane to Israel from Czechoslovakia in 1948, which helped turn a key battle in The War For Independence. He was the visionary commander of the Israeli Air Force for seven pivotal years. He was the brilliant strategist behind the opening airstrike of The Six-Day War that resulted in the destruction – within the first three hours – of almost 450 Arab aircraft on their own airfields. He founded CAL Cargo Airlines and was president of El Al. It is through Motty Hod’s life that we have the opportunity to fully understand the modern history of Israel.

QUARTER TO EIGHTThis is the story of Motty Hod’s incredible life and career, from his youth as a Haganah freedom fighter through 1967’s daring ‘Quarter To Eight’ surprise attack, still recognized as one of the biggest aviation war victories of all time. Motty Hod is the dreamer, warrior and patriot who remains one of Israel’s greatest heroes.

Quarter To Eight features rare historical footage from the archives of the Israeli Foreign Ministry, plus revealing new interviews with former Prime Ministers Ariel Sharon and Shimon Peres, former President Ezer Weizman, IAF Squadron Commander Ronen Pecker, and General Motty Hod himself, filmed shortly before his death in 2003.
